Pretty Woman Originally Had A Much Darker Ending

Even though Pretty Woman was one of our favourite movies from the 90s there are some really dark things about this film that you had no clue about! This was all due to the screenwriter wanting the movie to be much darker.

Remember at the end when Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman) and Richard Gere (Edward) reunite after Edward realized that he made a huge mistake leaving her in Los Angeles. He returned to her apartment in a white limo to tell her how much he loves her and how he is going to save her from a life of prostitution.

But Julia Roberts reveals what was really supposed to happen if the screenwriter had his way!

‘At the end of the original script, Richard ’s character threw my character out of the car, threw the money on top of her and drove away and the credits rolled.’

The original script never had the pair falling in love but they changed it as to get more attention and to appear more serious about the film.

Thankfully the director had a different vision for where the movie was going and adjust the script to make a more sentimental one that we would love for generations.

‘It didn’t seem like a vision everybody would have, but I did.’
